The Hispanic Dental Association Foundation is committed to supporting students through the educational process by awarding grants and scholarships to individuals with strong support from corporate partners and individual donors. This year’s scholarships are given through the generous support of the Hispanic Dental Association Foundation, Bridges Crest+Oral B Scholarship Program, Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, Colgate-Palmolive, A-dec, and the Colgate Latin Leadership Network, HDA members, and individuals who believe in the HDAF mission. Applicants should show commitment and dedication in improving and serving the oral health of the Hispanic community.

For the 2025 academic year, all applications must be completed online no later than June 15, 2025.

GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL AVAILABLE HDAF SCHOLARSHIPS

The HDAF Scholarship Program is composed of individual scholarships of varying amounts that the HDAF administers on behalf of corporations and individuals who believe in the underserved need of Hispanic Students.

Qualifications that apply to all scholarships.

  1. Applicant must be a member of the HSDA Hispanic Student Dental Association. Membership form available at www.hdassoc.org

  2. Recipients must attend the HSDA regional meeting during the HDA Annual Meeting in Fort Lauderdale, September 19-20, 2025. (up to $750) will be given to each recipient to help cover travel expenses to the meeting.

  3. These scholarships are open to Dental or Dental Hygiene students who are enrolled in a CODA accredited Dental or Dental Hygiene program.

  4. Awards vary and will be credited to the student’s financial Aid package. Amounts vary from $3,000 to $8,000.

  5. Past recipients of a HDAF scholarship may not reapply.

The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising Hispanic and Latino students during their academic training, creating a bridge to drive representation among dental and dental hygiene professionals for future generations. Their commitment should include an interest in serving their community and being an ambassador for the dental profession.

The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students during their academic training. Scholarships will be awarded to students for meritorious work who seek scientific and applied clinical knowledge during the academic journey of their dental professional program.

DELTA DENTAL OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION

The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students as they pursue their academic training in their oral health program. Their commitment should include a strong interest in community and public health arenas and the importance of professional networking within their community. Students must be enrolled in a program in the state of Illinois. This scholarship includes a mentorship program where the recipient must agree to quarterly ZOOM meetings with a HDAF chosen professional. This scholarship may be a renewable scholarship.

The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students as they pursue their academic training. This scholarship is available to third- and fourth-year dental students. Scholarships will be awarded to support meritorious work by students who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they continue through and complete their oral health professional program.

Colgate Latin Leadership Network

The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising Hispanic/Latino students as they pursue their academic training. Scholarships for Dental Students will be awarded to support meritorious work by students who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they continue through and complete their oral health program. Their commitment should include a strong interest in community service. Recipients must be enrolled in a program in Kansas, New Jersey or New York.

  • The intent of the HDA Foundation Scholarship Program is to support promising students as they pursue their academic training. The awarding of these scholarships will support the grantees during their dental, and dental hygiene programs.

  • These scholarships are open to student members of the Hispanic Dental Association who have been accepted or enrolled into an accredited dental, or dental hygiene program. Students must be a current student member of the Hispanic Dental Association.

  • The application must be received online no later than June 15, 2025. The application must be submitted in English.

  • The Scholarship Committee of the HDA Foundation will review each application on its merit. Areas that will be included are the demonstration of:

    • Commitment and dedication to improving the oral health of the Hispanic community

    • Community Service ( i.e. volunteer efforts in school, medical facilities, church, etc.)

    • Leadership Skills

    • Scholastic Achievement

    • Willing to help create a bridge to drive Hispanic representation for future years

  • For the 2025 academic year, the application must be completed online no later than June 15, 2025. The award decisions will be final and communicated to all applicants by July 23, 2025.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS

THE HISPANIC DENTAL ASSOCIATION FOUNDATION in its quest for continuous improvement in the development of Hispanic oral health professionals presents a scholarship program to students in the field of dentistry. These scholarships will be awarded to support meritorious work by student members of the Hispanic Student Dental Associations who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they enter the oral health care profession. Scholarship amounts vary depending on the Funder of the Scholarship.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered, you must:

  • Be accepted to begin your program or already be enrolled in a CODA accredited dental program, or dental hygiene program in the U.S. or Puerto Rico in the coming academic year (Fall of 2025).

  • Be a current HSDA (Hispanic Student Dental Association) member.

  • Be a full-time student during the academic year (Fall 2025) for which you are applying.

  • Be in good academic standing at your school.

  • Show evidence of commitment and dedication to improve the oral health of the Hispanic and other underserved communities and encourage Hispanics/Latinos to join the profession.

  • Applicant must not have been a previous recipient of any HDAF Scholarship.

Please read all materials carefully. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that ALL the necessary materials are received to the HDA Foundation through the online application by the deadline.

Scholarship Application Timeline

  • You must submit your completed application to the Hispanic Dental Association Foundation (HDAF) online no later than June 15, 2025.

  • The Verification form must be sent directly from the school to the HDAF through the online process no later than June 15, 2025. (Remember you must complete the top portion of the Verification Form.)

  • One recommendation must be submitted directly from the Recommender through the online process no later than June 15, 2025. (Remember you must complete the top portion of the Recommendation form.)

  • As part of the application, you are required to submit a 2-3 minute YouTube video explaining how you would create and approach an elementary school teacher explaining why and how you would present an oral health care event for their students and secondly - with all the changes in dentistry (AI, Corporate practices, etc.), how can you see this impacting the marginalized communities? Parts of or your complete video may be used in HDA/HDAF/Sponsor publications. Submission of this application gives your approval for said use.

  • The award decisions will be communicated to all applicants by July 25, 2025.

  • If you are a recipient of any scholarship award, your presence is required at the HSDA Regional Conference in Fort Lauderdale on Friday, September 19th and Saturday, September 20th, 2025 (during the HDA Annual Meeting.) You will be given up to $750 to help cover travel expenses.

FAILURE TO SUBMIT A FULLY COMPLETE APPLICATION WITH ALL THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE BY THE APPROPRIATE DEADLINE DATE WILL RESULT IN REJECTION OF YOUR ENTIRE APPLICATION.
