The Hispanic Dental Association Foundation is committed to supporting students through the educational process by awarding grants and scholarships to individuals with strong support from corporate partners and individual donors. This year’s scholarships are given through the generous support of the Hispanic Dental Association Foundation, Crest+Oral B Bridges Scholarship Program, Hispanic Star, Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation, Colgate-Palmolive, A-dec, the Colgate Latin Leadership Network, HDA members, and individuals who believe in the HDAF mission. Applicants should show commitment and dedication in improving and serving the oral health of the Hispanic community.
For the 2024 academic year, all applications must be completed online no later than March 24, 2024.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

BRIDGES SCHOLARSHIP FOR FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH YEAR
DENTAL STUDENTS AND FIRST AND SECOND YEAR DENTAL HYGIENE STUDENTS FUNDED BY CREST + ORAL B
The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising Hispanic and Latino students during their academic training, creating a bridge to drive equal representation among Dental Professionals for future generations. Scholarships in the amount of $5,000 will be awarded to Dental Students, and $3,000 for Dental Hygiene Students. Scholarship recipients will also receive a $500 gift-card* (Walmart) for school supplies.
Scholarships will be awarded to students for meritorious work who seek scientific and applied clinical knowledge during their academic journey of their dental professional program. Their commitment should include a strong interest in serving their community.
These scholarships are open to all Hispanic/Latino students who have been accepted or are currently enrolled in a CODA accredited dental or dental hygiene program. All non-member students (first 200 applicants) who apply to this Scholarship Program will receive a FREE 1-year Membership to the Hispanic Student Dental Association covered by Crest + Oral B. Award recipients must attend the Virtual Award Ceremony on May 15th, 2024.
Past award winners of a Crest + Oral B Scholarship may not reapply.
Maximum Award: $5,000 for Dental Students, $3,000 for Dental Hygiene Students, 1-year HSDA Membership and $500 gift-card* (Walmart).
* Gift-cards will be distributed by a third-party.
DENTAL RESIDENCY OR SPECIALTY PROGRAM
FUNDED BY COLGATE-PALMOLIVE COMPANY
The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students training in an accredited Dental Residency or Dental Specialty Program, including Dental Public Health, Endodontics, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, Pediatric Dentistry, Periodontics, and Prosthodontics. Scholarships up to $5,000 will be awarded to support meritorious work by students who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they continue their journey through the oral health profession and their chosen Dental Residency or Specialty Program.
These scholarships are open to members of the Hispanic Dental Association or Hispanic Student Dental Association who have been accepted or enrolled full-time in a CODA accredited residency program. Students must have an undergraduate or graduate degree in an oral health related field (Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, etc.) from a US school or abroad. Students must attend the HSDA Regional Conference at the New York University College of Dentistry on June 20, 2024 preceding the HDA Annual Meeting.
Maximum award: $5,000 for Dental Residency students.
FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH YEAR DENTAL STUDENTS
AND FIRST AND SECOND YEAR DENTAL HYGIENE STUDENTS
FUNDED BY COLGATE-PALMOLIVE COMPANY
The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students during their academic training. Scholarships in the amount up to $4,500 will be awarded to Dental Students and up to $2,500 for Dental Hygiene Students. Scholarships will be awarded to students for meritorious work who seek scientific and applied clinical knowledge during their academic journey of their dental professional program.
These scholarships are open to members of the Hispanic Dental Association or the Hispanic Student Dental Association who have been accepted or currently enrolled in a CODA accredited dental or dental hygiene program. Students must attend the HSDA Regional Conference at the New York University College of Dentistry on June 20, 2024 preceding the HDA Annual Meeting.
Maximum Award: $4,500 for Dental Students, $2,500 for Dental Hygiene.
FIRST, SECOND, THIRD, FOURTH YEAR DENTAL STUDENTS AND
INTERNATIONAL DENTAL STUDENTS AND DENTAL HYGIENE STUDENTS
FUNDED BY DELTA DENTAL OF ILLINOIS FOUNDATION
The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students as they pursue their academic training. Scholarships in the amount up to $4,500 for Dental Students and up to $2,500 for Dental Hygiene Students will be awarded to support meritorious work by students who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they continue through and complete their oral health program. Their commitment should include a strong interest in community and public health arenas and the importance of professional networking within their community. This scholarship includes a mentorship program where the recipient must agree to quarterly ZOOM meetings with a HDAF chosen professional. This scholarship may be a renewable scholarship.
These scholarships are open to members of the Hispanic Dental Association or Hispanic Student Dental Association who are enrolled in a CODA accredited dental or dental hygiene program in the state of Illinois. Students must attend the HSDA Regional Conference at New York University College of Dentistry on June 20, 2024 preceding the HDA Annual Meeting. .
Maximum Award: $4,500 for Dental Students, $2,500 for Dental Hygiene.
THIRD AND FOURTH YEAR DENTAL STUDENTS
FUNDED BY A-DEC
The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students as they pursue their academic training. Scholarships in the amount up to $4,500 for 3rd and 4th year Dental Students will be awarded to support meritorious work by students who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they continue through and complete their oral health professional program.
These scholarships are open to members of the Hispanic Dental Association or Hispanic Student Dental Association who are enrolled in a CODA accredited dental program. Students must attend the HSDA Regional Conference at New York University College of Dentistry on June 20, 2024, preceding the HDA Annual Meeting.
Maximum Award: $4,500 for 3rd or 4th year Dental Students.
THIRD AND FOURTH YEAR DENTAL STUDENTS
FUNDED BY COLGATE LATIN LEADERSHIP NETWORK
The intent of this Scholarship Program is to support promising students as they pursue their academic training. Scholarships in the amount up to $4,500 for Dental Students will be awarded to support meritorious work by students who seek to advance their scientific and applied clinical knowledge as they continue through and complete their oral health program. Their commitment should include a strong interest in community service.
These scholarships are open to members of the Hispanic Dental Association or Hispanic Student Dental Association who are enrolled in a CODA accredited dental program in the state of Kansas, New Jersey, or New York. Students must attend the HSDA Regional Conference at New York University College of Dentistry June 20, 2024 preceeding the HDA Annual Meeting.
Maximum award: $4,500 for 3rd or 4th year Dental Students

The intent of the HDA Foundation Scholarship Program is to support promising students as they pursue their academic training. The awarding of these scholarships will support the grantees during their dental, dental residency, and dental hygiene programs.

These scholarships are open to student members of the Hispanic Dental Association who have been accepted or enrolled into an accredited dental, dental residency, or dental hygiene programs. Students must be a current student member of the Hispanic Dental Association.

The application must be received online no later than March 24, 2024. The application must be submitted in English.

The Scholarship Committee of the HDA Foundation will review each application on its merit. Areas that will be included are the demonstration of:
• Commitment and dedication to improving the oral health of the Hispanic community
• Community Service ( i.e. volunteer efforts in school, medical facilities, church, etc.)
• Leadership Skills
• Scholastic Achievement
• Willing to help create a bridge to drive representation for future years

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS
Eligibility Requirements
To be considered, you must:
Be accepted or enrolled in a CODA accredited dental residency, dental program, or dental hygiene program, in the U.S. or Puerto Rico. Must be enrolled or accepted for the Fall 2024 term.
Be a current HDA (Hispanic Dental Association) member or a Hispanic Student Dental Association (HSDA member).
Be a full-time student during the academic year for which you are applying.
Have a minimum average grade point of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or be in good academic standing at your school if your dental program does not provide a GPA.
Show evidence of commitment and dedication to improve the oral health of the Hispanic community and encourage Hispanics/Latinos to join the profession.
Not have been a previous recipient/awardee of an HDAF Scholarship in the category of your application. (Example: dental student winners cannot apply in a following year as a dental student. However, can apply as a resident if appliable.)
Please read all materials carefully. It is YOUR responsibility to ensure that ALL the necessary materials are received at the HDA Foundation office by the deadline.
Scholarship Application Deadline
You must submit your completed application to the Hispanic Dental Association Foundation (HDAF) online no later than March 24, 2024.
The Verification form must be sent directly from the school to the HDAF through the online process no later than March 24, 2024. (Remember you are to complete the top portion of the Verification Form).
One (1) Recommendation must be submitted directly from the Recommender through the online process no later than March 24, 2024. (Remember you are to complete the top portion of the Recommendation form),
The award decisions will be communicated to all applicants by April 25, 2024.
As part of the application, you are required to submit a 2–3-minute video explaining once your education is completed what are your plans to the help the underserved communities have access to oral healthcare and how do you see yourself being an advocate to encourage other Hispanics to pursue careers in oral healthcare? Parts of or your complete essay/video may be used in HDA/HDAF/Sponsor publications. Submission of this application gives your approval for said use.
If you are a recipient of any scholarship award, except the Crest+Oral B Bridges awards your presence is required at the HSDA Regional Conference at New York University College of Dentistry on Thursday June 20, 2024. You will be given up to $500 to help cover travel expenses.
If you are a recipient of a Crest+Oral B Bridges award you must attend the Virtual Awards Ceremony on May 15, 2024.
FAILURE TO SUBMIT A FULLY COMPLETE APPLICATION WITH ALL THE ITEMS LISTED ABOVE BY THE APPROPRIATE DEADLINE DATE WILL RESULT IN REJECTION OF YOUR ENTIRE APPLICATION.
